The Dental Professionals Hearings Service (Hearings Service) is the adjudication function of the General Dental Council (GDC) that is separate and independent from GDC’s investigation function.
The Hearings Service team facilitates the work with our independent Committees, comprised of dental professional and lay panellists responsible for making decisions in Committee hearings
We hold hearings once a concern about a dental professional has been looked into and decided by GDC that there is a case.
The case is then referred to one of our three Practice Committees depending on the type of case, and a hearing is held. Our hearings form the last stage of the Fitness to Practise process.
